SUCAT PARENTS ORIENTATION ON CBR AND CONTRACT SIGNING

To orient parents of children with disabilities under Birthright's CBR program in Barangay Sucat , the parents were gathered to discuss disability issues and their role as parents who have children under Birthright's CBR program. Miriam del Rosario, Executive Director of The Birthright Educators Foundation Inc. emphasized the importance of knowing and understanding the laws that protect and empower the lives of children with disabilities. Different disabilities were studied and discussed in the workshop. Afterwardsm the parents composed letters dedicated to their children, which were then shated with other parents.


There was contract signing of all parents and also an information deive on Vaccine Resistance by Ateneo medical interns. For snacks, parents were given a cooking lesson on making lumpia out of dried vegetables from Ontario Christian Gleaners. Each parent was given a pack of dried vegetables for the nutrition of their children.

November 7-8, 2023


Neil Henrick from SLF Netherlands visited and Marinela Kaabay, Miriam del Rosario, and Andrew Abacahin went with him to visit the children under the CBR project in Sucat. He made a video of two children under Birthright CBR project, Blessie Rodriguez, a child with visual impairment and Gabriel Frigillana who has down syndrome. He interviewd the parents of the children and also Teacher Miriam del Rosario about her work in Barangay Sucat.

A visit from 4 UN Japanese researchers in Special Education from Kanazawa University was facilitated by Muntinlupa Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office. The main professor is writing his dissertation about special education in the Philippines and his students are writing their thesis. They were the ones who invited the Birthright Executive Director for the online UN forum on Special Education in 2019. They were exposed to the inclusive classroom management style of Birthright and they came to understand the unique way of The School of Tomorrow system for children with disabilities.

SCHOOL OF TOMORROW NATIONAL EDUCATIONAL CONVENTION


October 25-27, 2023


6 teachers of Birthright attended the National Teachers Educational convention at SMX Subic together with Pastor Jun and Teacher Miriam del Rosario. The theme was "Continuing the Mission"


The teachers were reminded of their main duty as teachers, their role in the learning center and they were encouraged to contiue their mission in improving and changing the lives of their students. They were also updated of the new products of the School of Tomorrow system.

DOWN SYNDROME END OF PROJECT INTERNAL EVALUATION AT RED HOTEL

Executive Director Miriam del Rosario and Finance Director Josie Cervantes attended the evaluation at Red Hotel as invited by Norfil. They filled up the evaluation form and reported their own accomplishment for the Down Syndrome Project in the foundation.

To make children be aware of online sexual abuse; to recognize who their trusted adults are and to let them be aware of their 10 basic rights as children according to UNCRC, this workshop was held in Birthright Center for 34 students of Birthright. The children tackled the Module 1 used by the Save the Children Foundation and determined who their trusted adults are. They can also now recited most of their basic rights. Teacher Samuelle Marie del Rosario gave a lecture on the Rights of Children and Teacher Miriam facilitated the Self Awareness module.

2023 FOURTH QUARTER REPORT

November 25-26, 2023


To encourage teamwork among Birthright faculty and staff and to orient new volunteers and assistant teachers on the core values in Birthright, we had a two days, one night Team Building at a private beach in Anilao, Batangas. All staff workers and faculty members were present. In the evening, the old teachers and staff shared their experiences with the new volunteers and assistant teachers in working with Birthright and the core values that they have learned as exemplified by the leadership in Birthright. Values that came out were volunteerism, servant leadership, flexibility and equity, family environment in Birthright and humility in work assignment. The old teachers explained to the new employees that in Birthright, our positions are just in paper but everybody work whatever needs to be done regardless of position. The leaders can be seen sweeiping the floors and cleaning if it needs to be done. The new employees came to understand the core values which are exemplified in the foundation.
